Day 125: The New York Street 5 -- The Bull Fighter

Day 125: The New York Street 5 -- The Bull Fighter
I showed my sympathy to the wall street bull in Day 11. In that case, it was a sexual offend. There were not as many people now, since the Christmas season was long gone. Maybe that made some people to try something different. He was the Mr. fighter No. 2.

Day 124: The New York Street 4

Day 124: The New York Street 4
I took this picture in front of the glass window of a gift shop. I liked the mixing of different elements here. The sign, the t-shirts, the fan on the ceiling, the lamps, the statue of liberty and the reflection of the building in the glass all contributed to make this picture interesting. It had every important elements to characterize a sense of metropolitan, and a sense of NY. It also looks like the multi-exposure pictures as this one here, thanks to the reflections from the glass.

Day 122: The New York Street 2

Day 122: The New York Street 2
A sports car rolled into everyone's sight and caught everyone's attention. I liked the expressions on the passengers of that bike taxi that went side by side with the monster. Check the large pic here.

Day 121: The New York Street 1

Day 121: The New York Street 1
In the busy street of New York, everyone was heading somewhere. Only he sat there, alone, staring blindly at the wall. What he was thinking about, no one really knew and no one really cared about.

Day 120: Magazines Magazines!

Day 120: Magazines Magazines!
I don't always have big interests in books. They make me feel boring sometimes. But I absolutely love magazines. Usually newspaper stands attracts me more than book stores, and understandably so. I think I am more of a visual animal and I just feel more comfortable and relaxed when reading both words and pictures than plain words.

However, being in Europe for five years, I was given rather limited resource for magazines. Basically I was excluded from magazines in all other major languages in Europe, and the access to English magazines was rather limited. That was why, on that day, when I was surrounded by so many magazines (I could understand), I was as excited as a kid in the candy store. There's even a great photography magazine translated from Italian. I stayed there for a long time and had it not for the train that was leaving soon, I could live there for days. I know I am going to miss all these when I go back to Sweden..........

Day 119: NY Central Park

Day 119: NY Central Park
I thought it was just a park, and I had been to hundreds (if not thousands) of parks here and there before. So the central park was never on my to-see list in NY. Had it not for a friend who visited me and we went to NY together, I probably would never set my feet in the park before I leave the States. But once we got out of the metro and entered the park, I loved the park at first sight. I liked that you could be in one of the busiest cities in the world in the first minute and be in the calmest place in the second. The park was a god's send to all people in the city and a salvation to their hectic lives. While in the park, you could feel the serenity around you. However, the skyscrapers surrounding the park reminds you of the city life. But this by no means ruins the calmness. It's like a blend of fine tea that's just right.

P.S. even though it was spring and the snow was long gone, they made this ice ground field for the competition that day.

Day 118: Flying across the canal

Day 118: Flying across the canal
This is an old photo from the time the canal was still frozen. I was taking some photos of the birds resting on the ice but suddenly they started to take off and flew away. I took this picture without aiming or metering, just pressed the shutter and hoped for the best.

Day 117: Holga Dream 2

Day 117: Holga Dream 2
No description.

I got to keep up with my 365 project. I know I've said this for more than once..... But I will.

Holga multiple exposure

Day 116: Starbucks sugar drink

Day 116: Starbucks sugar drink
It was my own fault to start with. This week was the spring break of the university, and my normal caffeine source was cut off due to the shut down of the cafeteria in the department. In one crazy afternoon, after messing up with mathematical equations and theorems, I badly needed a cup of coffee. I was too lazy to walk for two hundred meters more to a proper cafe shop, and went to the store closer to the department and picked up this starbucks bottle. I had to say, this was no coffee at all. It was water mixed with cocoa power and large amount of sugar. This thing didn't help at all, if not make things worse.

Day 115: The San Francisco Memory - The End

Day 115: The San Francisco Memory - The End
Looking back, it was really a wonderful trip. I visited one of my best friends from high school, whom I hadn't seen for more than five years. It was great to be able to get together and talk about the good old time. Moreover, it was always nice to be in California, just to enjoy the sun. Having been in Sweden for five years, I am now more and more like Swedes in this aspect. Wherever there is good sunlight, I am crazy about that place.

Day 114: The San Francisco Memory - Muir Woods

Day 114: The San Francisco Memory - Muir Woods
Muir woods national park might be the closest place near San Francisco to see red wood trees. It was until I arrived at the main gate that I realized that I had been here the first time I was in SF. Last time, due to the time limit, we only stayed for around one hour. This time, we were prepared from head to toes. We did a long hiking in the park for five hours, in search of the "gorgeous viewpoint" that a couple we encountered in the park told us. By the end of our hike, we didn't see any gorgeous view they mentioned.........

Day 113: The San Francisco Memory - The Rock

Day 113: The San Francisco Memory - The Rock
From the fishman's wharf, the Alcatraz Island is about 1.5 miles away. If you have seen the rock (film casted by Sean Connery and Nic Cage), this is "the" place! It was indeed a state prison before. Now it becomes a tourist place and there are ferries everyday which takes thousands of people to see the place. I heard that a lot of people even pay to be able to stay in the prison cell for some time. I am a big fan of the rock . Unfortunately I didn't have enough time to land on the island myself.

Day 112: The San Francisco Memory - Seafood Grill

Day 112: The San Francisco Memory - Seafood Grill
We settled down to this restaurant to have our last super. The grill was what attracted us to choose this place. But I am not a big fan of salmon so we didn't order the grill. King crab with butter, crab cakes, and crab soup........OK, I stop now.
