Day 9: Subway of NY

I've heard a lot of bad things about subway in NY. Friends who have been to NY always described it as dirty, crowded, and not safe. This warning sign I found in the subway entrance seems to suggest the same thing. However, my first impression of the subway was not bad in any sense. The train seemed to be quite clean. There were not many people. And people in the train were perfectly normal as far as I could tell. Maybe it is because that I was only traveling in the downtown area (from 42 st to Battery park), during daytime. I surely have heard a lot of rumors about the north part of NY, especially after midnight. Or, maybe I simply had too much expectation and was let down : )
