Day 73: Tired of waiting

Day 73: Tired of waiting
I have been fancying a Hasselblad for a long time. But I always persuaded myself not to buy one because of the high cost to shoot films nowadays. The magic moment arrived one week ago. I found a good deal on the web, and in the US, the price is much better than in that in Europe. More over, I was a little bit depressed, as mentioned in the previous posts, after my wonderful holiday. So there was a perfect excuse to cheer myself up (and it is a fact that I became a compulsive buyer whenever I felt too boring and lonely). So I bit the bullet and got the baby home.

It was quite a different experience to shoot films, especially with a full mechanical medium format camera. I had to slow down quite a bit, and think much more before releasing the shutter. Each time I took a shot, I always tuned the focus carefully, adjusted the frame to perfection, and then held my breath and pushed the button. It was a total different experience than shooting digital, where I was tempted to not think at all and became spontaneous (not a bad thing sometimes) and careless. Because it was so easy and so cheap.

I shot my first five rolls during last weekend and sent them to be developed. They should return in one or two weeks. But I was never a person with much patience. So I found another way to make some fun before the prints arrive. The Hasselblad has such a large waist level viewfinder, which makes it very easy to just shoot through the viewfinder using a digital camera. This was one of those shots. I think it turned out to be good. I like it.
